Motion Sensor Application on Your Car - February 9, 2010
Have you ever wondered how the screen of your iPod touch change to landscape when you move it horizontally or you might wonder of how air bag on your car works when you hit your car on a tree? It’s all because of one simple, tiny stuff, called by motion sensor.
Motion sensor is a sensor which can detect motion and then send the signal to a processor or an IC, Integrated Circuit where the signal is processed to have desired pre programmed output. Although it seems so simple but it can saves many lives when it’s applied on your car on in an airplane. Car and airplane nowadays have many sensors which can help the driver or pilots taking the correct decision when something happens.
One simple example is in airbag on your car which has been mentioned before. When there is a collision there will be a sudden impact which can initiate the sensor to give signal to the air bag controller to release the airbag so that the injury of the driver and the passenger can be minimized. The other example is motion sensor on your car braking system which called by EBD. EBD will control the brake distribution of the wheels based on the load distribution of the car.
