Pack the Essentials for Your Model Shoot - January 19, 2010
It is one of those modelling sessions that you have been waiting for. And, you’re off to make yourself available for that model photo shoot. But, did you pack your bag with everything you need while at the location? Know what the client require and bring them to your model photo session. For instance, carry all the primary things to help you with your hair, makeup, etc. Sometimes what you bring may depend upon aspects like whether it is going to be your first shoot for a good portfolio or a lucrative job assignment. Some of these tips will serve as a guide and a kind of a checklist of sorts so you can always add to the list what you feel is necessary.
If you are doing an assignment for some agent or your clients, in all probability, they will tell you what all things to bring with you; nevertheless, you still need to be ready with your assortment. Get your model case prepared well in advance before the day of the session so that there is no rush or confusion. Some of the wardrobe essentials are blue jeans, cut-off blue jeans, sports tops, shorts, knit tops and button up tops. If you are going for a different and professional look, a business suit is a must. If you have to do some sports modelling sessions, then get some thing for use in exercise like uniforms or shorts. Various kinds of lingerie can be used, if you are doing work meant for the lingerie market. If it is a swim suit session, you need to have some two-pieces and one-pieces for swim wears.
Props including hats, ties, men’s shirts and jackets with socks in different colours of black and white and an assortment of coloured hose/nylons are a must. Bring a robe to wear in between photo sessions along with a scarf. Wearing a scarf when changing will help keep the make-up off your clothing and other accessories. It would be prudent to pack an iron or steamer for managing those wrinkles that are sure to show up from the session. Have something that complements the clothes you wear. Remember, these accessories should match the outfit you wear. Accessories could range from an assortment of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and wristwatches.
As with different accessories, your shoes also should match or accentuate the outfit. But, you have the freedom to think out-of-the-box when it comes to selecting footwear. Bring several different pairs of dress shoes, high heels and an assortment of jogging shoes, boots, high heel boots and sandals. Regarding the hair, an assortment of combs and hairbrushes, curling iron, hair rollers, straighteners, headbands may be brought. Â Shaving cream and a few sharp razors may come in handy for some sessions. When appearing for the model shoot, leave the hair and body fairly natural with very little make-up so that stylists can work with it as soon as you arrive.
